BWY Foundation 1 – 2018

The BWY Foundation Course offers an exciting opportunity for students to deepen their knowledge and experience of yoga. It aims to develop a confident home practice and offers an excellent preparation for students who plan to join a Teacher Training Course; for British Wheel Teacher Training Courses the Foundation Course is the standard entry requirement.

This 60 hour course is designed to explore yoga in more depth than you could in your weekly class. It includes practical and theoretical work on the eight limbs of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras such as asana (postures), pranayama (breath control), concentration, and meditation as well as topics such as the history of yoga, and the different paths and schools of yoga.

The course is for everyone who would like to develop their knowledge and experience of yoga further. The course is also useful for those wanting to go on to train as BWY teachers to provide them with the basics and introduction to the BWY diploma course.
The Foundation Course is not a teaching qualification.

I attended my Foundation course in 2003 as I was looking for more than I could get from my weekly class, I think this is a fabulous course, it was the beginning of a yogic lifestyle for me rather than just a practice – I really began to learn how to take yoga off the mat and into my life! I also really enjoyed mixing with like minded people – all on our own yogic journeys! I am delighted to now be able to offer this course to others.
